About Quinn Walton · Elgin, Texas

NOT ONE
THING.

A maker’s hands.
A storyteller’s eye.
A systems thinker’s inability to leave well enough alone.

Musician · Filmmaker · Engineer
Community builder · Curious mammal

[ THE SHORT VERSION ]

A multidisciplinary life

I’m Quinn Walton. I make physical things, stories, systems, events, music, and occasionally trouble for categories that would prefer I choose one.

For twenty-five years, music has been the longest continuous thread. Film taught me how a hundred disciplines combine into one experience. Old Datsuns taught me patience, diagnosis, and the expressive potential of a seized bolt.

Engineering gave rigor to the instinct to prototype. Community work made the purpose clearer: the best things are not merely impressive objects. They change what people can do together.

I don’t collect disciplines.
I collect connections.

Places that shaped the practice

A Texas life,
with detours.

01

1986

Corpus Christi

Born on the Texas coast, already inconveniently close to both machines and weather.

02

Growing up

San Antonio

A youth shaped by South Texas, music, making, and the early suspicion that one career might not be enough.

03

College years

San Marcos

Three years of study and creative orbit before following film west.

04

Nine months

Los Angeles

A compressed education in film, ambition, scale, and what kind of life was—or was not—worth building.

05

Twelve years

Austin

Film sets, bands, real estate, acting training, creative work, and the long accumulation of overlapping skills.

06

2017—now

Elgin

Home base: workshop, garden, community, festival, old cars, difficult engineering problems, and the next strange idea.

[ OPERATING PRINCIPLES ]

How the work
gets made.

01

Follow the useful question

The medium is secondary. Start with the real problem, then choose the tools the problem deserves.

02

Make it tangible

A sketch, prototype, rehearsal, test rig, rough cut, or first event teaches more than another month of elegant speculation.

03

Carry lessons sideways

A mechanic’s diagnosis can improve a story. Event design can clarify an interface. Music can teach an engineering system when to breathe.

04

Leave the system better

Document the work, respect the people inside it, and create something others can understand after the performance is over.

Currently

Building a life
where the worlds meet.

Today, I’m based in Elgin, Texas, where the garage, stage, screen, and lab are less like separate careers than rooms in the same house.

I direct the Elgin Music Festival, develop precision mechanical systems, restore and reimagine classic Datsuns, explore contextual AI through DEX, make music and stories, and help thoughtful people turn difficult ideas into real things.
